Powai Police of Mumbai have caught 27-year-old Aditya Pandit for allegedly making his girlfriend Air India pilot Srishti Tuli commit suicide. On Monday, police found the 25-year old pilot dead in her apartment in Marol. Pandit’s family have previously accused her of being abused and humiliated in public and of being barred from eating non vegetarian food.
Allegations of Abuse and Control
The family of Srishti Tuli, who live in Gorakhpur, have complained that Aditya Pandit has treated them very badly. Pandit would often insult her and control her actions, they said. He mocked her once when the group decided to eat non vegetarian food. A police officer said she was very upset because of the way he treated her.
Relationship Background
Srishti attended training in Delhi two years ago and met the couple. Shortly after, they started living together in Mumbai. Soon after, her family found out that Pandit wasn’t the kind of man to Srishti. She reportedly accused him of taking money from her bank account, without permission, and he would taunt her.
Last Moments and Police Action
Pandit was en-route to Delhi when Srishti called him Monday and told him she was about to take her life. With a friend, Pandit went back to Mumbai and went to their apartment. They found Srishti dead already there.
Then her uncle filed a formal complaint with the police. Pandit had harassed her for a long time and often humiliated her in public, he said. He said Pandit also put great stress on her because he pressured her to change how she ate.
Family Calls for Justice
Mumbai Police have been asked to conduct a thorough investigation into Srishti’s death by her family. Pandit apparently harassed her, and they are certain they are responsible for her brutal and tragic end, making it look like a suicide.
Further charges against Srishti’s case were not necessary but police are now investigating to find out what led to her death.
