New Delhi – Delhi Police has deported eight Bangladeshi nationals aimed at a crackdown on unauthorized migrants in the capital to identify and deport the immigrants. This action comes two weeks after the secretariat of the LG started a special programme to tackle the issue of the city’s irregular immigrants.
Targeted Operations and verification drives.
The Delhi Police, especially the South-West district, have sent more teams on verification and joint search exercises to trap illegals. He said that patrol teams including officers from police stations and specialized forces have been deployed to carry out raid operations and screen individuals who have no status in the country. They are among measures that are being implemented in a bid to curb the increasing concern about the irregular stay of foreign immigrants especially those from Bangladesh.
On these drives, police attested documents of about 390 families, and forms were forwarded to the respective addresses in West Bengal for cross checking. One group was also sent to West Bengal for physical scrutiny of the suspects. These preventive measures helped police identify eight Bangladeshi nationals who were charged and deport-ed through the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO).
An Admission of Trespassing
One of them was Samsul Seikh who admitted that he came to India undetected through the forests after he left his house in Dhaka. Seikh came back to bangladesh and got his wife named Parina Begam along with their six children to India. The family had burnt their local Bangladeshi documents including passports in the hope of avoiding identification and suspicion while in Delhi.
This paper also describes how some immigrants evade border control and live in India illegally. These details were discovered by the police during verification of facts during the verification drive concluding that border control and verification mechanisms have to be tightened.
Managing Influx in Politics
This is after deportations efforts were enhanced due to political changes in Bangladesh especially the removal of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in August. The immigration of Bangladesh immigrants to India has caused concerns and various authorities have acted to arrest the situation.
The special teams of Delhi Police have been ordered to increase the speed in the coming days to catch more illegals and deport them. These operations are intended to make the national capital safe and free from unauthorised inhabitants, which may be perceived threats.
A First Step in a Broader Initiative
This has been the first official deportation order given by the South-West Delhi Police since the LG declared the special drive. The authorities have said this is the start and soon they are going to expand the verification process in other districts of Delhi and deportation.
He emphasized on stopping the issue of Illegal immigration stating the Indian government’s policies to defend the rule of law and country’s security. The more such drives are conducted, the more action the city anticipates for the identification and deportation of the illegals.
This deportation of these individuals – eight nationals of Bangladesh – are a painful reminder of the issues of unlawful immigration and the steps needed to solve such a problem.
